Revolution of 1848
After the defeat of Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo the Congress of Vienna restored Louis XVIII to the French throne. While technically a constitutional monarch most state power rested with Louis which was a condition that would stay permanent. Throughout the 19th century France would bounce from some form of monarchy and a republic. The Revolution of 1848 set the stage for another Napoleon and spread revolutions across Europe.
Latin America would also experience revolutions as men like Miguel Hidalgo, Simon Bolivar and Jose de San Martin struggled against Spanish rule. Revolution even spread to the french colony Haiti as it won independence from Napoleon Bonaparte’s France. We will examine both France and Latin America as Revolution spreads and changes both Europe and Latin America. The powerpoint and notes are found below as well as constructed response questions.
